HORSEHEADS — Tes Eisner scored late in the game to lift Horseheads to a
1-0 win over Athens here Friday night in non-league girls soccer action.
“It
was a great game, and a great atmosphere to play in,” said Athens coach
Rich Pitts. “Horseheads played a great game, and I think we battled the
entire 80 mins.
“I’m super-proud of all the girls … we went deep into the bench,” added Pitts.
After
more than 76 minutes of scoreless action, Eisner took a cross from
Leila Vargas, and knocked a shot into the side of the net.
Horseheads had a 13-4 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Senior Karlee Bartlow recorded nine saves in the net for the Lady Wildcats.
Athens, now 5-6-1, returns to action Saturday morning against Northeast Bradford.
