LIBERTY — Athens raced out to a quick double-digit lead, and blew the
game wide open by halftime on its way to a 58-21 win over North
Penn-Liberty here Wednesday night in NTL girls basketball action.
Junior
Emma Bronson scored seven points in the first quarter, while senior
Caydence Macik had six points, and junior Karlee Bartlow add four points
in a 17-6 run in the opening stanza.
Freshman Addy Wheeler
canned a trio of 3-pointers in the second quarter, and Macik added six
points to fuel a 24-6 blitz to extend the lead to 41-12 at the half.
Athens’ starters played just three minutes in the third quarter, and exited the game with the Lady Wildcats up 54-16.
Macik
led Athens with 16 points, five rebounds, and five steals, while
Wheeler had 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and three assists, and
Karlee Bartlow had 11 points, seven assists, and four steals.
Bronson
added seven points and three boards in the win, while junior Natalee
Watson chipped in with four points and three rebounds, senior Olivia
Bartlow grabbed six rebounds, sophomore Mya Thompson had five rebounds,
three steals, and one blocked shot, and Izzy Davis pulled down four
rebounds.
Elizabeth Ritchie and Jaclyn Nelson led NP-L with seven points apiece.
Athens, now 10-3, returns to action Thursday at Towanda.
