TROY — Athens is in must-win mode, needing to win its final three matches to qualify for the upcoming District, Class AA volleyball playoffs.

Well, it's "one down, and two to go" after the Lady Wildcats dispatched of Troy in straight sets here Tuesday night by scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-18.

“It was a team effort tonight, totally,” said Athens coach Heather Hanson. “The girls were loud, focused and had fun.

“I haven’t seen this team since our first game,” added Hanson.

Senior Jenny Ryan led the Lady Wildcats with three service aces, while seniors Cailin McDaniel, and Audrey Clare, and sophomore Kassie Babcock each had two aces.

Athens, now 7-9, hosts Towanda Thursday, then travels to Wellsboro Monday for the regular-season finale.
