ATHENS — Wyalusing built a big lead early, and took advantage of nine
Athens errors in a 13-3 win here Monday afternoon in NTL Large School
softball action.
For the Lady Rams, the win avenges a 21-15 loss to the Lady Wildcats last week.
Jenelle
Johns, who was knocked out of the game last week in the first inning,
pitched a complete game to earn the win. She allowed three runs on eight
hits, while striking out nine and walking none.
Wyalusing scored one run in the first, four more in the second, and one more in the third to extend the lead to 6-0.
The Lady Rams pushed two runs across the plate in the fourth, and three more in the fifth inning to take an 11-0 lead.
Athens scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a three-run triple by senior Macie Coyle.
Wyalusing tacked on two runs in the top of the seventh inning to provide the final margin.
Senior
Aliyah Butler and sophomore Marissa Butler each singled twice and
scored one run to lead Athens at the plate, while Macie Coyle tripled
and drove in three runs, Cailin McDaniel doubled and scored one run, and
senior Caydence Macik, and freshman Jules Pack each singled. Freshman
Ella Coyle scored one run.
Athens, now 7-7, travel to Wellsboro Tuesday.
