Athens 8th A and 8th B Hold Off Cowanesque Valley for Home Wins

Athens 8th A held off Cowanesque Valley Wednesday night in a 2 set win: 25-21, 25-21.

In Game 1, Emilynn McQuay knocked down 7 pts (5 aces) throughout the game to keep the Wildcats in the lead. Jonica Walters had a dominant play at Middle with a block for Athens that secured a side out late in the game. In Game 2, Katyayini Kinthala led the team with 6 pts (2 aces) to assist in the win. Athens 8A extend their record to 3-0.

Athens 8th B closed out their 2 set win over Cowanesque Valley: 25-20, 25-17. In Game 1, Kylie Hill led the team with 7 pts (3 aces). Addison Glielmi showed dominant offensive skill at the net with two tip kills at the setting position. In Game 2, both Evelyn Roy and Natali Reeves led their team with 5 pts (4 aces) each. During a run of her own points, Natali had a sprawling dig from back court that kept the Wildcats serving streak alive. While Marybelle Hollingsead contributed with a kill for the team on a well executed pass. Athens 8B extend their record to 2-0.

Athens 8th A and 7th B play their next game away on Monday, September 9th at 6:00 PM against Sayre.
