The Athens 8th A Junior High Volleyball team continues its run, defeating Wyalusing in straight sets Monday night, 25-20 and 25-15, to extend their season record to 6-0. The Wildcats showcased grit, and outstanding teamwork to secure another victory.

Emilynn McQuay was unstoppable, leading Athens with a commanding 14 points, including an astonishing 10 aces. McQuay’s fierce serves and her two powerful kills set the tone, while her defensive passing kept Wyalusing off balance throughout the night. Addison Moss also played a key role, contributing 6 points, 2 of which were aces, delivering clutch moments when her team needed them. Kayla Forbes anchored the defense with a stellar 10-for-12 passing performance, leading the Wildcats in critical defensive stands that stifled Wyalusing’s attack. Jonica Walters delivered a decisive kill, while Lily Miller added 4 points, including 2 aces, to round out a balanced team effort. Eden Fedorchak made her mark in the second set, tallying 3 points, 2 of them aces, helping to close the door on Wyalusing’s hopes of a comeback.

The Wildcats win on Monday keeps their win streak alive as they prepare for Thursday’s road game at Wellsboro.

The Athens 7th B team faced a tough challenge, falling to Wyalusing in two sets, 25-13 and 25-19. Despite the loss, there were notable performances, with Auriana Welch leading the team with 4 points and strong defensive passing.
