Athens Junior High Volleyball Teams Fall to Troy on the Road

The Athens Junior High Volleyball teams battled hard but fell to Troy on the road tonight, with both the 8th A and 8th B teams coming up short in tightly contested matches.

In 8th A action, Athens started strong but dropped set 1 to Troy, 20-25. Athens pushed through some early struggles at the service line rebounding to put up points—three points, two of which were aces by Madison Sinsabaugh, Jonica Walters added two points, Kayla Forbes contributed two points, including an ace, and Lilli Miller and Emilynn Mcquay added a point and an ace respectively. At the net, Addison Moss had two kills, and McQuay added one more.

The Wildcats bounced back in set 2, securing a 25-12 victory. McQuay chipped in with a point at the service line, and Hailey Smith added an ace. Kayla Forbes posted four points, including an ace, while Lilli Miller notched three points and two aces. Madison Sinsabaugh led the way with six points and two aces, and Olivia Frantz contributed an ace. Addison Moss recorded another kill at the net, while Eden Fedorchak and Hailey Smith each added a kill. McQuay and Frantz also made crucial saves that helped their team force a side-out and ultimately claim the win.

In the decisive set 3, Athens fought hard but fell short in a close 13-15 loss. Kayla Forbes led the Wildcats with five points, including two aces, while Lilli Miller added two points, including two aces. Addison Moss capped off her night with another kill. Athens 8th A is now 10-3 on the season.

In 8th B action, Athens was edged out by Troy in two sets, 23-25 and 16-25. In Set 1, Kylie Hill led the Wildcats with five points, including four aces. Evelyn Roy contributed four points, two of them aces, and Makayla Brinkley added an ace at the service line. Natali Reeves also made an impact at the net with a kill.

In Set 2, Hill added two more points, while Malorie Chandler chipped in two points and an ace. Addison Glielmi contributed an ace, and Natali Reeves tallied another kill at the net. Glielmi’s strong defense, including a critical save, helped Athens secure a side-out and a point, though they were unable to overcome Troy late in the set.

Both teams will look to close out their seasons on a high note as they travel to Towanda this Wednesday for their final regular season games.
