ATHENS - After Athens and North Penn-Liberty each scored a first-half goal, the defenses took over, and the two teams battled through double-overtime for a 1-1 tie in NTL boys soccer action here Friday evening.

"Liberty played a tough game," said longtime Athens coach Jake Lezak. "Their keeper (Deakon Valentine) was very good tonight, with some top-notch stops."

Junior Chase Ingram, off an assist from senior Troy Rosenbloom, scored about 3 minutes into the game to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
