Despite Fast Start, Athens Falls To Johnson City In Season-Opener

ATHENS - Athens got off to a fast start, but struggled offensively over the final three quarters in a 44-23 season-opening loss to Johnson City here Wednesday night in non-league girls basketball action.

Sophomores McKenna Jarvis and Allie Kemp scored four points apiece in the first quarter to help the Wildcats to a 12-7 lead, but Athens scored just 11 points the remainder of the game.

Johnson City took control in the second quarter with a 15-2 blitz to take a 22-14 lead into the halftime intermission.
