Unbeaten North Penn-Liberty Makes First-Inning Run Stand In 1-0 Win Over Athens

LIBERTY - Unbeaten North Penn-Liberty scored a run in the first inning without the benefit of a hit, and made it stand up in a 1-0 win over Athens here Friday afternoon in NTL Large School Division softball action.
The Wildcats outhit the Mounties, 5-2, but left six runners on base in the game in a loss that snapped their six-game win streak.
"It was just a great game played by two quality teams," said Athens coach Brian Wendela "I'm proud of the girls' effort, they really wanted this one and they came ready to play."
