CANTON - Athens jumped on Canton early, but needed a late surge to pull away for a 15-7 six-inning win here Wednesday afternoon in NTL baseball action.

The Wildcats scored five runs in the top of the first inning in a rally that featured an RBI double by sophomore Brendan Cooke and an RBI single by sophomore Connor Davidson, but the Warriors rallied to close the gap to 6-5 after two innings, and tied the game at 7-7 after four innings.

In the top of the fifth inning, Athens loaded the bases on an error and two walks, then took an 8-7 lead on a wild pitch.
