Slow Start Costly; Athens Falls At Wyalusing, 40-27

WYALUSING - Athens dug itself a hole in the opening stanza, and never recovered in a 40-27 loss to Wyalusing here Wednesday night in NTL Large School girls basketball action.

Emily Johns scored six points in the first quarter, and Alysha Botts added four points to fuel Wyalusing's 15-6 first-quarter run.

Chloe Bennett hit her second 3-pointer of the game in the second quarter as Wyalusing used a 9-6 spurt to take a 24-12 lead into the half time locker room.
