Athens Knocks Off Towanda, 2-1

TOWANDA - Freshman Everleigh Waring gave Athens an early lead, and the Wildcat defense did the rest in a 2-1 win over Towanda here Saturday afternoon in NTL girls soccer action at the Endless Mountains Sports Complex.

Eight minutes into the game, senior Brinley Nichols sent a cross in front of the Towanda goal, and Waring knocked it into the goal to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

The game remained 1-0 for more than 57 minutes until senior Delanie Patton, off an assist from Nichols, scored with 15 minutes remaining in the contest to make it 2-0.
