Athens Scores Early, Often To Down Sayre, 17-1

SAYRE - Athens jumped out to a big lead early on the way to a 17-1, five-inning victory over Sayre in NTL baseball action at Riverfront Park here Wednesday.

Brendan Cooke belted a pair of two-run doubles in the top of the first.

The initial double plated Zeke Noble and Nick Grazul, who reached on a single and double, respectively. The second came after Duncan Thetga and Noble wrapped walks around Shea Davidson’s RBI single that scored Eli Hobday, and gave the Wildcats an 8-0 cushion.
